Melissa Harris Abbazia, the artist behind Catch My Drift, specializes in transforming beach treasures into bespoke works of art. Her passion for the Connecticut shoreline, particularly her beloved Tod's Point beach in Greenwich, runs deep in her veins. Born and raised on the East Coast, the allure of the sand, sea, and sun has always been a constant presence in her life. As a child, Melissa delighted in collecting sea glass, shells, and especially, driftwood, abundant along the Long Island Sound inlet. One Christmas, inspired by her father's encouragement to create homemade gifts, Melissa's artistic journey with driftwood began. Her first sculpture, a meticulously crafted seahorse, marked the launch of Catch My Drift. Each unique piece is a testament to the detail in Melissa’s artistry and her deep connection to the natural world. Melissa's sculptures are more than just decorative objects; they are imbued with the essence of the coast, capturing the raw beauty and timeless allure of the ocean. She sources her driftwood from the very shores that have shaped her life, ensuring each piece carries a unique story and a touch of coastal magic. Whether you envision a graceful seahorse, a majestic whale tail, or a whimsical starfish, Melissa can collaborate with you to bring your vision to life. With a keen eye for detail and a deep understanding of the natural world, she transforms ordinary driftwood into extraordinary works of art that will bring a touch of coastal charm to your home. So, if you're looking for a unique and meaningful piece of art that reflects your love for the sea, look no further than Catch My Drift. Let Melissa guide you on a journey through her coastal creations, and together, you can capture the essence of the sea in a one-of-a-kind driftwood masterpiece.
